李萌 0862010326 经贸002班 Brief introduction An inauguration is a formal ceremony to mark the beginning of a leaders term of office and the last step of the election. Inauguration day is the public holidays of the US. It was originally held on March 4 except the first inauguration for George Washington which held on April 30th, 1789. but after 1933, it had been reformulated on January 20th. In fact, the US Constitution only formulated that before the President of the United States be in his office he should take the oath of the office. However, as time passed, the inauguration ceremony had expanded. It now added with Inaugural Address, Parade and Ball. And all this ceremony would last for a day. The Oath of Office The oath of office is traditionally administered in Washington, D.C. At exactly noon, the President takes the oath of the office, traditionally administered by the Chief Justice of the United States, using the form of mandated in ArticleⅡ, section 1of the United States Constitution. The Oath “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the United States.” ---ArticleⅡ, section 1 United States Constitution Inaugural Address Since the first American President, George Washington, delivered the inauguration speech in1789. The Inaugural Address have become an important tradition for all the presidents. The new President generally use this opportunity to state his specific policy and the target of the government. Parade Ball After the Addresses, the President and the vice President and the guests attended luncheon host by the presidential inaugurations committee which include the congress, the senate and the house of representatives.
