Abst Abstract PAGE PAGE iii Abstract Man-land relationship as a core problem of geography research,with a series of ecological environment problems caused by irrational land use patterns, is paid more and more attention by social public. Yunnan is one of the most typical mountainous provinces in China with the realistic condition of rich mountains many people and scarce land, which makes it that Yunnan in the process of socio-economic development of the contradiction between people and land become more and more prominent. The primary and core issue of man-land relationship is land use, the relationship between human activities and land is the most basic level of man-land relationship. This paper studies man-land relationship evolution in Yunnan Province from the perspective of the system of land use change, aims to coordinate conflicts between population growth, social economic development and land use and also to provide reference for the asocial and economic sustainable development of mountain areas. Based on the study of the relationship between people and land at home and abroad, the paper comprehensively discussed the man-land relationship concept, content and basic theories at first. Then the paper analyzed the situation of land use changes of Yunnan Province and 16 cities in Yunnan Province under the premise of that land use types are divided into eight categories in Yunnan Province . next, based on the two methods: single index of land use change and comprehensive index method of land use change, this paper provided systematic and comprehensive analysis of the time trends and spatial differences in Yunnan Province. Finally, the paper used the gray prediction model to predict the man-land relationship status of Yunnan and 16 Cities from now to2020. Main conclusions: The speed of cultivated land area reduction in Yunnan province is the fastest, other land area reduction speed followed; by contrast, the fastest growth area is garden plot, followed by resid
