毕业论文 小说《第二十二条军规》中的黑色幽默 ABSTRACT Black humor is one of the most representative genres in the American literature and it came to prominence in the 1950s and 1960s. Black humor is a reflection of social unrest, shaking of people’s conviction and the inner anxiety of people. It is usually used in drama, literature, and film, and it is a kind of grotesque or morbid humor retaining a serious tone. The aim of black humor is to express the absurdity, cruelty, paradox, and insensitivity of the modern world. Joseph Heller is a representative writer of black humor and his masterpiece Catch-22 is one of the typical representative books of black humor. In this novel, Heller lashes out at the presumption, cruelty and coldness of the bureaucracy, revealing the true colors of society. He also portrays an absurd, crazy and disordered picture of American society. This thesis makes a tentative study on both black humor and Catch-22. It introduces Catch-22 and black humor respectively, and then from the perspective of black humor, it expounds on how black humor is reflected in this novel by making a detailed analysis on its main characters, theme, structure and language. In doing so, this thesis aims to let readers have a better understanding of black humor and Catch-22.
