Abstract: W ater bloom in lakes brings a great danger to daily life and production, which is prmi arily due towater
eutrophication and rapid increaseof the amount of algae and phytoplankton. As an indicator ofwater eutrophication,
rapid detection of chlorophyll content in water can predict the extent ofwater eutrophication and pollution. Based on
the spectralcharacteristics of chlorophyll fluorescence, this paper reports a new technique for themeasurementof eu

trophication and a chlorophyll fluorescence detecting instrument. The sensitivity of the instrument is up to 3 10 .
A lot of expermi ents of tracking the distribution and growth of phytoplankton, and the mi pactof clmi ate changewere
carried out in the Jingye lake in T ianjinUniversity.
