Hunan Electric Power Company, Changsha 410007, China) Abstract: As the reformation of the power industry developed, the competition in the power market is becom ing increasingly severe. Therefore, it is crucial for each power supplying enterprise to be able to assess its competitiveness accurately. Factors affecting the competitiveness of a power enterprise can be extensive and may vary wildly. Based on the value chain theory, the key links in the chain of operations are analyzed. Diag nostic tools and potential indexes are developed to help to evaluate the enterprises competitiveness, which greatly simplifies and clarifies the evaluation process. In practice, weighted entropy analysis is adopted to eval uate the enterprises competitiveness to obtain consistent results.
