--an embodiment of American values and cultures
The film is a vital part of a culture, and the Hollywood film on behalf of American culture exists in the world. The prevailing Hollywood films become a symbol of the United States and make a contribution to American cultural exports. The emergence of the large amount of super hero images reflects a strong individual heroism in American values. On the one hand, this value advocates independence, justice and dignity; on the other hand, it implies the conflict between the individual and the social order. This kind of individual heroism implies American characteristic and owns enduring appeal in the screen, which is different from the collective cultures. There are abundant super heroes with the American spirit, and this paper will give a brief analysis from The Batman.
With the clash between rich material life and lacking conventional belief in the 1960s and 1970s, the American people were confused during the serious time after World War Two. At that stage, the science fiction genre began. In the early 21st century, with the development of economic globalization and cultural diversity, this genre came back with more powerful strength after The September 11th Terrorist Attacks. It is seen that the insecurity of American people generates the super hero.
Batman is one of the famous comic heroes in America, close to the masses, a justice fighter who is not to kill. The biggest difference from Superman is that Batman is a super hero without any real super power. He is a normal man, who uses his love of science, strength, and problem solving to make him a very special kind of crime-fighting super hero. The hero Bruce Wayne was a young boy when his parents were killed during a robbery. As Bruce grew up, he kept a promise to bring his parents killer to justice and so he trained hard to get his body in perfect physical condition. He studied and excelled in areas of science, criminology and psychology.
