Abstract: T he pr eparation m et hod of a new t y pe sulf ur doped polyst yrene w as st udied .
Under t he init iato r o f A IBN , ho mopolym er and copolym er w it h st y rene w ere synthe
sized f rom p chlo romet hyl st yrene. T he chlorom et hyl po lyst y rene can react w it h po tas
sium ethy l xant hat e t o pr oduce sulf ur doped poly st yr ene. T his method is simple and the
condit ion o f react ion is mild . T he st ruct ures of t he polym er w ere charact erized by means

of IR and H N M R. T he r elat ive molecular m ass o f poly mer w as det ect ed by g el perme
at ion chr omat ogr am ( GPC and t he doped am ount of sulfur at om w as analyzed by ele
m ent analysis. A t t he sam e t ime, t he per for mance o f f ilm f ormat ion was also st udied .
T he init ial result s show t hat t he polym ers have a good f ilm charact er ist ic.
