本科生毕业设计(论文)开题报告 毕业设计(论文)题目:On Philip Pip’s Character Development in Great Expectations 学生姓名: 学号: 1063071145 分 院:外国语言文化分院班级: 1006班 指导教师: 职称: 讲师 填表日期: 2013 年 11 月 3 日 杭州师范大学钱江学院教学部制 一、选题的背景和意义 Great Expectations is one of Charles Dickens’ great works, which mainly describes the protagonist Philip Pip’s unpredictable life, from the lower class to upper class, from hard life to lavish life, and from the kind-hearted to vanity. As we all know that there are many ups and downs of human beings’ life, just like the old saying that people born to be sufferings. There is no denying that Great Expectations profoundly reflects the Pip’s changeable life so as to lead us to think of life seriously. Concerning Pip’s unpredictable life, there are many factors affecting his life. In the past decades, an army of studies and researches about the factors have been conducted by scholars, which have made tremendous progress in researching character development of Pip. They have focused on different factors. Some groups have proposed that human factors affect his life, whereas other groups have proposed that environmental factors affect life. In addition, there are also many Chinese and foreign studies and researches have been carried out. Mainly Chinese scholars study Pip’s character development from the perspectives of the factors affected Pip’s character development and getting meaning from the process of Pip’s character development. For example, Wu Hao (2012) and Lei Ping (2005) pointed out that the advantages and disadvantages of Pip’s character development; meanwhile, they have a detailed conclusion that the various factors, including time factors, human factors and environment factors, affected Pip’s character development. Guo Rong (2009) came up with the point that the human factors influenced Pip’s character development, he concluded that Mrs.Joe and Mr. Joe cultivate Pip’
