? ESI GROUP SYSWELD Training 2006Chapter 4.2 Meshing Requirement for Multipass Welding Analysis Stage 1: Meshing Several mesh are required for the whole simulation 2 Meshes are required for the Process Adjustment MESH1 for HSF MESH2 for 2D Simulation 1 Mesh is required for the Multipass Welding itself MESH1: Specification If the same process is used for all passes then only one heat input adjustment is required. The HSF tool is accessible from the Welding Advisor under Tools The mesh specification is the same as the one used for a standard welding simulation done with the HSF tool. The mesh should be orientated in the XY plane (Z=0) Several groups of elements are required in the initial mesh: HSF_DATA1.ASC C1_3D C2_3D BEAD SKIN TRJ REF This mesh should additionally be prepared for HSF tool by using the preparation tool provided for that purpose: HSF_DATA2.ASC Example for HSF Mesh: MESH1 MESH2: Specification2D Transient Analysis In order to obtain the thermal cycle for the Multipass simulation a 2D transient analysis should be performed. The mesh should have the following specifications: C1_3D C2_3D BEAD SKIN WELD_TRAJ (Two 1D Elements) WELD_REF ( Two 1D Elements) WELD_START_NODES (Two Nodes) WELD_STOP_NODES (Two Nodes) WELD_START_ELEMS ( Two 1D Elements) Group of nodes for Clamping conditions (Optional) Example for 2D Analysis Mesh: MESH2 Example for 2D Analysis Mesh: MESH2 MESH3: SpecificationMultipass Welding Analysis For a 2D or a 3D analysis we require the following groups: W1 to Wn (Welds or Macros) C1: Element of component 1 C2: Element of component 2 ALL_WELDS = (W1+W2+…Wn) COMPONENTS= (C1+C2) WELD = W1 NOT_WELDED = ALL_WELDS – WELD WELD_TRAJ WELD_REF WELD_START_NODES WELD_STOP_NODES WELD_START_ELEMS Groups for Clamping Conditions AIR = Skin elements on the components only MESH3: SpecificationMultipass Welding Analysis 2D Analysis MESH3: SpecificationMultipass Welding Analysis Mesh Preparation for MWA In addition to the different group
