of Groundwater Pumping and Construction Loading

Abstract:Based on conservation of mass, this paper deduced a theoretical model for land subsidence caused by
const ruction loading on unconsolidated strata, and compared it w ith the elastic model for subsidence controlled by
groundwater pumping.The results show that the mechanism expressions of tw o models are accordant, but their
hydrodynamic essences are different,that is, the former is caused by dissipation of pore w ater pressure, and the
later is for the sake of draw dow n.Calculation model for subsidence under the dual effects of pum ping and loading
is given according to superposition principle.Taking draw dow n as main factor, tw o subsidence processes w ith
different hydrodynamic essences can be overlaid effectively.
