Once the masterpiece was published, it hit the United States immediately. The most successful image of femininity created in the novel was Scarlett, characterized by both virtuous and evil and has become a hit in the academic field. This thesis aims to analyze Scarlett’s charm from the perspective of her instable characters in different stages. Before the war, Scarlett’s charm lies in her ignorance, bigotry and rebelliousness; in wartime, her charm rests with courage; after the war, her charm is in shrewdness. The paper explores the charms of the heroine comprehensively based on her psychological development.
