Introduction:
7050aluminumalloyisahigh-strengthaluminumalloythatiscommonlyusedinaerospaceapplicationsduetoitsexcellentmechanicalproperties.Theelectricalresistivityofthisalloyisanimportantparameterthataffectsitselectricalconductivityandcanplayacriticalroleinthedesignofelectricalsystems.Additionally,themagneticpropertiesofdifferentmetalscanbeusedinvariousapplications,suchaselectromagnetsandmagneticstoragedevices.Inthisstudy,wewillinvestigatetheelectricalresistivityof7050aluminumalloyandthemagnetizationofaluminum,copper,andtitanium.
Objectives:
1.Tomeasuretheelectricalresistivityof7050aluminumalloyusingastandardfour-pointprobe.
2.Tocalculatetheelectricalconductivityandanalyzetheeffectofheattreatmentontheresistivity.
3.Tomeasurethemagnetizationofaluminum,copper,andtitaniumusingavibratingsamplemagnetometer(VSM).
4.Toanalyzethemagneticpropertiesofthedifferentmetalsandcomparethemtotheirrespectivecrystalstructures.
Methodology:
1.Fabricationof7050aluminumalloysampleswithdimensionsof10mmx10mmx5mm.
2.Heattreatmentofthesamplesatdifferenttemperaturesforasettimetoanalyzetheeffectofheattreatmentontheelectricalresistivity.
3.Measurementoftheelectricalresistivityofthesamplesusingafour-pointprobeatroomtemperature.
4.Calculationoftheelectricalconductivityfromtheresistivitymeasurements.
5.Measurementofthemagnetizationofaluminum,copper,andtitaniumsamplesusingaVSMatroomtemperature.
6.Analysisofthemagneticpropertiesofthemetalsandcomparisonwiththeirrespectivecrystalstructures.
