Research on Indoor Positioning Algorithm Based on LED Visible
Light Communication

Abstract: As a combination of lighting and optical communication, to broaden the spectrum resource, green
energy-saving new wireless communication technology, LED visible light communication (VLC) technology
based application in indoor positioning system has recently become a very hot research topic. The domestic and
foreign research on LED visible light communication in indoor positioning technology is divided into non-imaging
positioning technology and imaging positioning technology. Among them, there are four non-imaging positioning
technology methods: triangulation method , scenario analysis, proximity method and hybrid techniques with VLC
and Ad Hoc wireless network. This article provides an overview of these two technologies, and their performance are
compared. Finally the outlook for future research are discussed .
