To improve traffic condition, we need rational planning of the urban road network, to develop public transport mode. To do that, master of the residents travel rule as the support is necessary. OD matrix of the residents is the digital representation of the residents travel rule and how to obtain a precise OD matrix is the key to solve the problem. Meanwhile, floating car information collecting technology has developed as a frequency-used traffic data collection technique in recent years. Its advantages that the data collected is more real-time, objective, accurate and the amount of the data is bigger make it more and more widely used in traffic data collection. In this paper, we take the taxi as example of floating cars and get the OD matrix of the residents’ trip by taxi, by processing the data using the GPS data collected from Harbin taxis during their operation.
