Isilon simplifies and enhances your enterprise applications and workloads by consolidating your large-scale file and unstructured data assets eliminating silos of storage. With HDFS integration (introduced in January 2012) Isilon now speaks the native language of Hadoop. By having this integration, Isilon allows multiple applications to access the Hadoop data, eliminates manual data loading typical of ETL requirements with traditional data warehouses, and brings enterprise class storage efficiencies and data protection to your business analytics initiatives. OneFS “Mavericks” will provide enhanced integration with VMware by leveraging VMware’s VAAI and VASA APIs to accelerate performance and simplify the management of storage in a Virtualization environment. To further increase flexibility, “Mavericks” will also incorporate a new Platform API to provide you and 3rd-party ISVs the ability to develop tools to directly interface with the Isilon file system and gain an even more robust control interface to the Isilon cluster.
