What You Will Learn
Cisco introduced Nexus® 5000 Series Switches as purpose-built 10 Gigabit Ethernet data
center–class switches providing high-bandwidth, low-latency access-layer switches for rack
deployment and as the basis for a unified network fabric that can help simplify data center
infrastructure while reducing capital and operational costs. The Cisco Nexus 5000 Series are
well suited for enterprise-class data center server access-layer deployments and smaller-scale,
midmarket data center aggregation deployments across a diverse set of physical, virtual,
storage access, and unified data center environments
Today Cisco announces the Nexus 6004, the first platform of Cisco Nexus 6000 Series. The
Cisco Nexus 6004 brings an unprecedented density to the market with 96 ports at 40Gbps or
384 ports at 10Gbps in only 4 Rack Units (RU). The platform is built with state of the art Cisco’s
ASIC technology providing line rate for any packet size with port-to-port latency of 1 us. The
Cisco Nexus 6004 has the hardware capability to support Layer 2, Layer 3, Cisco® FabricPath,
