Introduction: Nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ligands have attracted widespread attention in synthetic chemistry and materials science due to their unique electronic, optical, and magnetic properties. The incorporation of these ligands into coordination polymers is a promising strategy to exploit such properties and develop functional materials with diverse applications. In this project, we have focused on synthesizing multi-nitrogen heterocyclic coordination polymers and studying their structures and properties. Synthetic methods: The synthesis of multi-nitrogen heterocyclic coordination polymers is based on the reaction between transition metal ions and heterocyclic ligands such as pyridine, pyrazine, and triazine. The synthetic protocols involve solvothermal reactions of transition metal salts and ligands, which are then purified by column chromatography and recrystallization. Structural characterization: The crystal structures of the coordination polymers were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The results reveal that the polymers possess a variety of coordination geometries, ranging from octahedral to tetrahedral and trigonal bipyramidal. The ligands in the polymers adopt different conformations, leading to unique 1D, 2D, and 3D structures. Physical properties: The physical properties of the coordination polymers were investigated using a range of techniques, including thermal analysis, UV-vis spectroscopy, and electrochemistry.
