OK Let’s see a very basic structure of steam plants. As you would remember a boiler is installed and delivery piping system are extended to each steam equipment Very simply isn’t it? Steam is generated at the boiler and delivered through the piping system At what pressure ? The pressure at boiler is very carefully designed in order to minimize the piping system cost, covering all requested pressures at equipments, this is because the volume is steam is this means Higher pressure significantly allow smaller piping size, thus cost effectiveness So steam is supplied at relatively high pressure On the other hands pressure requested at steam equipments or some branches are quite low because of the design Also quite different among these equipments and lines. Yes some devise is needed That is pressure regulator ! I would like to show you more specific sample, that is a heat exchanger on behalf of steam equipments, Most likely heated product temperature is controlled and quite often the strong relation between temperature and pressure is considered and supplied to the system as steam temperature is controllable by pressure change A pressure regulator is simply installed as temperature control valve of supplied steam in case targeting product temp Can be obtained by this.
