Lecture SixCombination Combination means merging two or more Chinese sentences into one English sentence, so as to produce full English sentences grammatically and semantically. Of course, some loose or run-on Chinese sentences which center on one topic or theme should be made more compact contextually. Now let’s look at the following examples: (1) 从前，中国人喜欢大家庭，很多人生活在一起，有的家庭四世同堂---四代人住在一起。现在情况不同了，封建式的大家庭解体了，以小家庭为主。 In the old days, Chinese people preferred to live in extended families with up to four generations under the same roof. Now things are quite different.
