Also, it is difficult to verify and evaluate the quantitative phase analysis results of montmorillonite due to the ineffi- cient preparation of pure montmorillonite sample. Methylene blue absorption, chemical composition analysis and X-ray diffraction quantitative phase analysis (Rietveld quantitative phase analysis, calibration curve method and matrix flushing method) were used to determine the content of montmorillonites in some typical bentonites. The advantages and disadvantages of the methods are discussed. The results show that the analytical results obtained by the Rietveld quantitative phase analysis are more accuracy and credibility.
