Introduction:
Opticalparametricgenerationisanonlinearopticalprocessthatallowstheconversionofapumpwaveintotwootherwaves,calledthesignalandtheidlerwaves.Thisprocessiswidelyusedinmanyapplicationssuchasspectroscopy,telecommunications,andquantuminformationprocessing.ThePPLN(PeriodicallyPoledLithiumNiobate)isacommonlyusednonlinearcrystalfortheparametricgenerationduetoitshighnonlinearcoefficientandbroadtransparencyrange.However,theefficiencyofthisprocessislimitedbyvariousfactorssuchascrystaldefects,phasemismatch,andthermaleffects.
Objectives:
ThemainobjectiveofthisstudyistoinvestigatetheefficiencyandperformanceoftheopticalparametricgenerationinsidethePPLNcavity.Otherobjectivesare:
1.TodesignandfabricateaPPLNcavitythatcanallowefficientparametricgeneration.
2.Tostudytheeffectoftemperatureontheefficiencyandstabilityoftheparametricgeneration.
3.Toinvestigatetheeffectofcrystaldefectsandphasematchingontheparametricgeneration.
4.Tooptimizetheexperimentalparameterstoachievemaximumefficiencyandreliabilityoftheparametricgeneration.
Methodology:
Themethodologyofthisstudyconsistsofthefollowingsteps:
1.DesignandfabricationofPPLNcavity:ThePPLNcavitywillbedesignedandfabricatedusingstandardmicro-fabricationtechniques.Thecavitywillbeoptimizedtoachievemaximumefficiencyandstabilityoftheparametricgeneration.
2.Characterizationofcrystaldefectsandphasematching:ThePPLNcrystalwillbecharacterizedusingvarioustechniquessuchasX-raydiffraction,microscopy,andinterferometry.Thephasematchingconditionwillbeoptimizedtoachievethemaximumefficiencyoftheparametricgeneration.
3.Experimentalsetup:Theexperimentalsetupwillbedesignedandfabricatedtoenableef
