Purchasing new numerically controlled machines is an important way to improve production precision and efficiency, but it may not come true to many enterprises because it cost much. Enterprises’ equipment updating steps are counteracted severely. So General lathes numerically controlled reforming is a quick way that costs less, improve production precision and efficiency, and it can improve enterprises’ competitive power. In this pape, the transmission part of CA6140 lathe of NC transformation is reconstructed by applying NC technology. Based on introducing the necessity and advantages of using NC technique for rebuilding machine tools and the emergence and development of the NC system, we determine the overall scheme of the NC transformation according to the main technical parameters of the CA6140. The levels of main transmission system, speed, gear design, motor selection are studied. At the same time, traverse and longitudinal feeding system design, stepping motor choice, lathe traverse screw nut structure improvement, the transformation of guide way and the tool rest will be studied and introduced. Reequipped machine tools with the CNC devices, the accuracy of processing and the production capabilities of the lathe are enhanced greatly in theory.
