China ） Abstract ：The relation between the urban traffic and underground space development is analyzed，and it is pointed out that the underground road is an important means to improve the urban traffic and environment. Based on the status guo，the future demand and conflicts to be faced on the traffic for core area of CBD in Shanghai ，the plan- ning objectives and the function positioning have been specified. The general road network layout in # form and the respective road network proposal have been put forward. This proposal has important meaning on accommodating the development for core area of CBD，alleviating traffic congestion and optimizing the road network ，and can provide be- nefitial reference for developing underground road in other cities.
