[Abstract] U ltr asonic cav itation is o ne of pr edo minant mechanism s in high intensit y focused ultr asound ( H IFU tr eatment .
Eff icient ly- induced ultr asonic cav itation can be used to increase the co agulat ed vo lume and enhance the ther apeutic eff iciency
of H IFU . Recent studies hav e show n that micro bubble co ntr ast ag ents ar e impo rtant f acto rs in enhancing the therapeut ic ef-
f iciency o f H IFU . T hey have po tent ial to act as cav itation nuclei and ar e likely to low er t he tissue damag e thr eshold and cau se
a g reater coag ulated vo lume. A long w ith the development of H IFU eff iciency enhancement studies, HIF U w ill be mo re eff ec-
t ive and pow erful in clinical tumo r tr eat ment .
