Abstract
Inrecentyears,theuseofcarbonfiberreinforcedpolymers(CFRP)instrengtheningconcretestructureshasbecomeincreasinglypopular.However,thereislimitedresearchontheperformanceofCFRP-concreteinterfacesunderelevatedtemperatures.Inthisstudy,themid-termresultsofanongoingresearchprojectinvestigatingtheshearbehaviorofCFRP-concreteinterfacesunderhightemperaturesarepresented.TheexperimentalprogramincludesthemanufactureofCFRP-concretespecimens,whicharetestedunderbothambientandelevatedtemperatures,andtheanalysisofthecollecteddata.
Introduction
ThestrengtheningofconcretestructuresusingCFRPhasbecomeanattractiveoptionduetoitshighspecificstrength,corrosionresistance,andeaseofinstallation.However,themechanicalbehaviorofCFRP-concreteinterfacescanbeinfluencedbyvariousfactors,includingthetemperatureenvironment.ElevatedtemperaturescanleadtoareductioninthebondstrengthbetweenCFRPandconcrete,whichcanresultinprematurefailureandreducedeffectivenessofthestrengtheningsystem.Therefore,itisessentialtoinvestigatetheshearbehaviorofCFRP-concreteinterfacesunderhightemperatures.
ExperimentalProgram
Theexperimentalprogramconsistsofthreephases.Inthefirstphase,CFRP-concretespecimensweremanufacturedusingtwotypesofadhesives:epoxyandmodifiedepoxy.ThespecimensweresubjectedtoadirectsheartestatambienttemperaturetodeterminetheinitialshearstrengthoftheCFRP-concreteinterface.
Inthesecondphase,thesametypeofspecimenswassubjectedtoadirectsheartestatelevatedtemperaturesrangingfrom60to150°C.Thespecimenswereplacedinafurnacefor2hourstoreachthedesiredtemperaturebeforethetest.Thetemperaturewasmaintainedthroughoutthetestingprocess.Thetestdatawereusedtodeterminethetemperature-dependentshearstrengthoftheCFRP-concreteinterface.
