玄参科蓝猪耳的生殖生物学研究的开题报告 Title: Reproductive Biology of Cyclocarya paliurus, a Member of the Juglandaceae Family Introduction: Cyclocarya paliurus, commonly known as blue pig ear or sweet tea tree, is a deciduous tree belonging to the Juglandaceae family. It is widely distributed in China and has been used for medicinal and nutritional purposes for centuries. However, its reproductive biology is poorly understood. This study aims to investigate the reproductive behavior of Cyclocarya paliurus, including its flowering and fruiting characteristics, pollination mechanisms, and seed germination traits. Objectives: 1. To describe the flowering and fruiting patterns of Cyclocarya paliurus. 2. To identify the pollination mechanism(s) of Cyclocarya paliurus. 3. To examine the seed germination traits of Cyclocarya paliurus. Methods: Field observations, controlled pollination experiments, and laboratory germination tests will be conducted to achieve the objectives of this study. In the field, the flowering and fruiting patterns of Cyclocarya paliurus trees will be recorded, and the duration and synchronicity of anthesis will be assessed. Controlled pollination experiments will be conducted to identify the pollination mechanism(s) of Cyclocarya paliurus. Different treatments, such as hand-pollination, bagging, and emasculation, will be applied to flowers to determine the role of wind and insects in pollination. Laboratory germination tests will be conducted to assess the effects of different pre-germination treatments, such as soaking, scarification, and stratification, on seed germination. Expected Outcomes: This study will provide insights into the reproductive biology of Cyclocarya paliurus, which is important for understanding its ecological adaptation and potential exploitation. The flowering and fruiting patterns will help predict the timing and quantity of fruit production, which is valuable for horticultural propagation and management.
