Abstract

Withtherapiddevelopmentofinformationtechnology,knowledgemanagementhasbecomeanimportantwayforenterprisestoobtaincompetitiveadvantages.NativeXMLdatabases,asakindofdatabasetechnology,haveadvantagesinhandlingsemi-structureddata,whichcanbeappliedtoknowledgemanagementsystems.Thispaperpresentsthemid-termreportoftheresearchontheapplicationofknowledgemanagementsystembasedonnativeXMLdatabase,whichincludesthecurrentstatusofresearch,thedesignofthesystemarchitecture,theimplementationofthesystemmodules,andtheevaluationofsystemperformance.Thepurposeofthisresearchistoprovideafeasiblesolutionfortheknowledgemanagementoftheenterprise.

1.Introduction

Asweknow,knowledgeisthemostimportantassetofanenterprise.Howtoeffectivelymanageanduseknowledgehasbecomeanimportantchallengefortheenterprise.Knowledgemanagement(KM)isthepracticeofcapturing,organizing,andmakingavailableacompanyscollectiveexpertisetoimprovebusinessperformance.Inrecentyears,informationtechnologyhashadagreatimpactonthedevelopmentofKM,whichsupportedbyvariousknowledgemanagementsystems(KMSs).

NativeXMLdatabaseisakindofdatabasetechnology,whichhasmanyadvantagesinhandlingsemi-structureddata.Comparedwithtraditionalrelationaldatabases,nativeXMLdatabasehasamoreflexibleschemaandsupportsthestorageandqueryingofXMLdocumentsdirectly.Therefore,itissuitableformanagingalargenumberofsemi-structureddatainKMSs.

2.CurrentStatusofResearch
