The compression command is detailed under SOLARIS
1) zip command
Zip - r myfile.zip. / *
- all files and folders in the current directory are compressed into the myfile.zip file.
-r represents all the files under the recursive compression subdirectory.
Zip -d myfile.zip smart.txt
Delete the smart.txt file in the compressed file
Zip -m myfile.zip. / rpm_info.txt
Add the rpm_info.txt file in the zip file myfile.zip
To compress the file using zip, type the following command at the shell prompt
Zip -r filename.zip filesdir
-- filename.zip represents the file you created, and filesdir represents the directory where you want to place the new zip file. The -r option specifies that you want to recursively include all files included in the filesdir directory.
You can also use the zip command to handle multiple files and directories at the same time, by listing them one by one and using the Spaces between them:
Zip - r filename.zip file1 file2 file2 file3 / usr/work/school
- this command to file1, file2, and file3, as well as the contents of the/usr/work/school directory (assuming that the directory exists) compression, and then into the filename. Zip file.

D: -d/home/sunny indicates that the file is uncompressed to/home/sunny. 3) the tar command
Tar can create files for files and directories. With tar, users can create profiles for a particular file (backup files), change files in files, or add new files to files. Tar was originally used to create files on tape, and now users can create profiles on any device, such as floppy disks. Using the tar command, you can put a lot of files and directories all packaged into a file, for the backup file or combining several files to become a file so that the network is very useful. The tar on Linux is the GNU version.
