I. 关系代词的用法
1.
who 作定语从句中的主语，宾语或表语，指人。
whom作定语从句中的宾语，指人。
whose作定语从句中的定语，表示“…的”，指人，指物均可。
which作定语从句中的主语，宾语或表语，指物。
that作定语从句中的主语，宾语或表语，指人，指物均可。
2. 在哪些情况下，用who引导定语从句：
（1）先行词为He 或Those时，
e.g. Those who want to go put up your hand .
（2）非限制性定语从句中，指人并作主语
e.g. She married a man , who had a lot of money .
（3）分隔性定语从句中，指人时，
e.g. A new teacher will come tomorrow who will teach you German .
3. 在哪些情况下，用which引导定语从句。
（1）介词前置于关系代词时，
e.g. This is the room in which we lived last year .
（2）非限制性定语从句中，指物或指整个主句时，
e.g. The meeting was put off , which was exactly what he wanted .
4. 在哪些情况下，用that引导定语从句而不用which
（1）先行词是形容词最高级或被形容词最高级修饰时，
e.g. This is the best film that I have ever seen .
（2）先行词是序数词或被序数词修饰时，
e.g. It is the last problem that should be solved .
（3）先行词是all , much , little , something , anything , nothing , none , the one 等不定代词时，
e.g. All that she said is true .
（4）先行词被any , few , little , no , all , the same , the only , the very , the just 等修饰时，
e.g. This is the very book that I want .
（5）先行词既有人又有物时，
e.g. Do you know the persons and the things that they are talking about ?
（6）主句是以who或which开头的疑问句时，
e.g. Which is the bike that your mother gave you ?
5. which , who , that 在哪些情况下可以省略：
（1）作从句中及物动词后的宾语时，
e.g. The necklace (that) you just saw is made of glass .
（2）作从句中介词后的宾语，介词未前置于关系代词时，
e.g. Tom is the boy (whom) I talked to .
6. whose的用法
Give me the book whose cover is red .
= Give me the book the cover of which is red .
7. 判断下面各组句子的正误
A. Tom is not the boy whom I gave the tickets . （×）
B. Tom is not the boy whom I gave the tickets to . （√）
A. The house in which we live is a large one . （√）
B. The house in that we live is a large one . （×）
A. He talked about the teachers and schools that he had visited . （√）
B. He talked about the teachers and schools which he had visited . （×）
