Introduction:
Redtideisaworldwidephenomenonthatcausesseriousenvironmentalproblems.TheredtideintheEastChinaSeaisatypicalcoastalphenomenonresultingfromtheproliferationandaccumulationofharmfulalgalblooms.Organicmatterisoneofthemostimportantcomponentsofsedimentsinredtideareas.Itiscloselyrelatedtothegrowthandreproductionofphytoplanktonandcanaffectwaterqualityandecosystemhealth.Therefore,itisnecessarytoinvestigatethesourceanddistributionoforganicmatterinsedimentsofredtideareasandexploreitsrelationshipwithphytoplanktoncommunity.
Researchobjectives:
1.TodeterminethesourcesoforganicmatterinsedimentsofredtideareasintheEastChinaSeathroughstablecarbonisotopeanalysis;
2.Toanalyzethecompositionandabundanceofphytoplanktoninthewatercolumnandsedimentsofredtideareas;
3.Toexploretherelationshipbetweenorganicmatterandphytoplanktoncommunityinredtideareas.
Researchmethods:
1.CollectionofsedimentandwatersamplesfromredtideareasintheEastChinaSea;
2.Analysisofstablecarbonisotopecompositionoforganicmatterinsedimentstoidentifysources;
3.AnalysisofphytoplanktoncompositionandabundanceinsedimentsandwaterusingmicroscopyandHPLC;
4.Statisticalanalysistoexploretherelationshipbetweenorganicmatterandphytoplanktoncommunity.
Expectedresults:
1.Identificationofsourcesoforganicmatterinredtidesediments;
2.Analysisofphytoplanktoncompositionandabundanceinredtidesedimentsandwater;
3.Correlationanalysisbetweenorganicmatterandphytoplanktoncommunity,whichmightprovideinsightsintothemechanismsofredtideoccurrence.
