Abstr act : The thermoplastic starch was obtai ed by the mixi g of starch ( St ) powder a d
glycerol, a d the processi g tech ique was discussed. The ble ds of starch with polyvi yl alcohol
(PVA) wer e prepared for improvi g the properties. The mecha ical properties, thermal stability,
morphology a d crystallizatio of the ble ds were studied by mea s of mecha ical performa ce testi g
i strume ts, thermogr avimetry, sca i g electro micrograph a d wide a gle X2ray diffr actio . The
results revealed that the te sile stre gth of the PVA2St ble ds with some ratio of PVA a d St reached
to 20MPa, a d its elo gatio at break r eached to 100%. Moreover, the hydr ophilic property of SP
system was depressed by addi g poly2B2hydroxybutyrate( PHB) . The SP ble ds have the merit of
simple processi g tech ique, a d are easy to i dustrialize a d biodegr adable e tir ely. They will fi d
wide applicatio s.
