Theresearchareaofsustainableenergyhasgainedsignificantattentioninrecentyearsduetotheincreasingglobalconcernaboutclimatechangeandthedepletionofnon-renewableresources.Theworldsenergydemandhasbeenrapidlyincreasing,drivenbypopulationgrowthandeconomicdevelopment.AccordingtotheInternationalEnergyAgency(IEA),theglobalenergyconsumptionisprojectedtogrowby30%between2017and2040,primarilyindevelopingcountries.Thissurgeinenergydemandhasledtoasignificantincreaseingreenhousegasemissions,contributingtoglobalwarminganditsassociatedenvironmentalandeconomicconsequences.

Theshifttowardssustainableenergysourcesisessentialtomitigatethenegativeimpactsoftraditionalfossilfuelsontheenvironment.Renewableenergysourcessuchassolar,wind,hydro,andgeothermalhavethepotentialtoprovidecleanandabundantenergywhilereducinggreenhousegasemissions.Forinstance,thesolarphotovoltaic(PV)industryhasseenremarkablegrowthinthepastdecade.TheglobalinstalledcapacityofsolarPVsystemsincreasedfrom50GWin2010toover600GWin2020,accordingtotheInternationalRenewableEnergyAgency(IRENA).Thisgrowthisatestamenttotheincreasingviabi
